The 6 Best Tech Companies For Intern
Internship used to be code for "slave labor." But tech companies these days are tripping over themselves to hire the brightest young minds as interns and pay them well.
If you play your cards right, you can earn some serious cash with an internship -- as much as $6,000 a month.

A recent report on Glassdoor.com showed that among the Top 20 best internships, six of them were in tech.

They are:
No. 1. Google. No surprise. Google pays its software engineering interns an average of $6,463/month. Not all interns can expect that much. An intern in its BOLD program gets paid about $3,444/month. BOLD is a diversity program with interns in mostly business roles, rather than tech jobs.

No. 2 Microsoft. Microsoft rather famously rolls out the red carpet to its interns, including salary. A research intern can make as much as $6,746/month. Software development interns can bring in $5,539 and a Program Manager intern (business) can earn $5,323. Plus, Microsoft throws them concerts and parties.

No. 3 Qualcomm. Qualcomm pays its interns on average over $4,500/month. The company is also based in San Diego so its intern recruiting videos look like a California vacation commercials. The company hires more than 800 interns worldwide for summer and school-year interns and claims that 60 percent get hired on after they graduate, too.

No. 4. Cisco. Cisco pays about $4,000/month. Its internship program got a big boost two summers ago when one of them, Greg Justice, recorded a YouTube video that went viral named I Am The World's Most Interesting Intern. This sparked a YouTube war where other interns posted videos of their jobs at Cisco. It turned Justice in a YouTube phenom in the Cisco and internship worlds.

No. 5 IBM. IBM pays its interns a healthy $3,935 and while the iconic tech company doesn't have the panache of Google, it does have world-renown R&D facilities exploring every type of science. IBM's got one internship program called Extreme Blue that is sort of like a reality show. Students work in one of 15 Extreme Blue labs to develop a new technology and business plan in 12 weeks. IBM says the program has lead to more than 400 potential patents.

No. 6. Amazon. Amazon pays its software development interns about $5,552/month. Amazon is the gold standard of cloud computing and it likes to build a lot of its own technology. Some interns luck out and get to work on really important projects. Others, not so much, according to what some of them have said on Quora. But even if the work is iffy, the name recognition is not. Those who spend time as an interns at Amazon get the interviews when they graduate.
